World Traveller and all around Renaissance man of trash-rock Choyce (Daylight Lovers, Les Sexareenos, CPC Gangbangs, Luxury Rides and a bunch more I am leaving out) gets really real gone, pretty much goes it alone (Chi of Spaceshits, Del Gators lends some noise, Scat Rag Boosters Edouard gets it all on tape) and makes just as much racket as he does in any other circumstance."Won't You Come back" is slide bar murder blues field recorded from a cocaine swamp. Then "One Way Ticket" runs around like a rockabilly chicken with it's head cut off inside of dilapidated barn full of spring reverb & raunchy porno while the instro "Demon Mouche" sits on the backporch watching the sun go down and awaiting on the UFO's to return to mutilate the herd with toy laser guns.

A-Side sounds to me like a Dictators rock-inspired anthem as interpreted by Alicja, including a brief, yet wailing, guitar solo. I find myself enjoying its subtle power more with each listen. "Gimme Whatever" is more in line with what you're probably expecting, a faster/punker song with a choppy little chorus, lyrics about a self-destructive man/boy, and a bass solo. Yes, I just said bass solo. And it's a good one at that. Better than their first single, in that I find myself becoming more drawn to this band the less they sound like Lost Sounds ultra-damage. It's nice hearing Alicja in a more convential rock setting, and her voice suits the material just fine. Bonus points awarded for not sounding like it was recorded at Tape Hiss is Good Studios. Clearer/crisper recording works for this trio. Mastered by some dude named Jay Lindsey. Never heard of him. And if not for the Dutchmasters sleeve, this record would be front-runner for 7" artwork of the year. Scum Stats: Goodbye Boozy, 300 pressed, don't act like you weren't warned.(RK)
Okay, I tried to avoid making the cliché girl band comparisons, but with this song I just can’t help it: “Time 2 Get Right” sounds like the Riff Randells’ tougher, older sisters’ best attempt at writing a Joan Jett-esque, mid-tempoed rock anthem. If that’s something similar to what Alicja was thinking when she wrote this song, I’d say she pulled it off fairly well. The B-side, however, is by FAR the stronger of the two songs here. “Gimmie Whatever” is a desperately catchy tune about an eternal rock n roll problem: a lack of action and the quest thereof. This tune is easily the River City Tanlines finest moment to date in my humble opinion, and it’s right up there with some of Alicja’s best work. I don’t know what the hell is in the water in Montreal, but here we have yet another mighty nice platter from the land of Les Habs and poutaine. The Routes are two-thirds of the Scat Rag Boosters plus Spaceshit/Sexareeno/Del-Gator Skid Marks/Colonel Lingus/Dorito Dan (That’s all one person. You need to take notes to keep track of these guys). Twin guitar wall of slop/static delivered over pounding skins that’s as close to blues as it gets for North of the border. The B-Side throws some wild harp playing into the fray for a slow stomping chug-a-lug of a track. Both sides are magnificent, think Scat Rags crossed with the Gang Bangs mean streak. This record makes it an even dozen singles for Goodbye Boozy without a clunker in the bunch. That’s pretty remarkable. And as always, pressed in a limited edition of 300, so start looking. (RK)

Man, best shorty I've heard in a coon's age. Nothing innovative or hat-pop-offa-bean wild on here, just some great groovin' rock 'n roll (like that ain't enough???) that's having too much fun to be concerned with what might be trendy this month in those trend-spots I keep hearing aboot (yup -- Canadia alert). Band contains a couple Scat Rag Boosters, and you can sho-nuff hear it. Drummer does that cool, off kilter stutter beat that Jamis (Mystery Girls) and That One Guy (Deadly Snakes) employ when they wanna' draw extra shuffle action from a 4/4. Special alert -- unexplained alliteration subtext contained within. Almost (nearly) makes me wanna' dance! Look out, ladies! (TK)

Ah Montreal… Ah Canada… I was just there you know…really… I was up visiting Shaun Anagram, record shopping and all that jazz… They didn’t have the jazz festival going on, but I still had a blast… There are all these sex shops up there…it’s weird… New York has gotten so clean with that stuff…I’ve forgotten… It’s like people can’t get laid up in Montreal or something so they need all these sex shops, even the women… What they really NEED is more drugs…
Anyway, that’s where the Scat Rag Boosters were from…Montreal. A lofi roar of garage rock ‘n’ roll much like those southern belles at Goner Records. If you’re into the Oblivians/Reatards/Persuaders vibe then you HAVE to hear the ‘Booster…R.I.P… Yeah, they’re long gone…but vinyl…that shit lives FOREVER! IMMORTALITY! (JD)

Cantankerous, clamorous, and furious, Los Huevos are a garagey sludge of rock! If you like the Motards, and the rest of the Texas Tussle, find yourself a Los Huevos record. Like it raw, get with Goodbye Boozy. This record is way limited to 300, so shake a leg Rocko! (JD)

I got an email from a guy asking if I had any copies of this 7" available and, if not, than perhaps I could send him an MP3 of it. I learned my lessons in school, if I am gonna give one person an MP3, I better share it with the class.So here you are. These two songs came from Los Huevos' last recording session. It was done in The Loft by Chris Woodhouse on a 4-track cassette recorder. Woodhouse was also playing drums. With Jason Patrone, Woodhouse was the last (and best) Los Huevos rhythm section. These guys were a machine and after Los Huevos died, they were the foundation of the Pretty Girls.Manlove is an original. It is about a light rail stop in suburban Sacramento, called Manlove. It is also about street hustlers turning tricks on public transit (Gonna buy a ticket/Gotta buy a trick/at Manlove). We ripped off Hubble Bubble and the Gang of Four for this one.The flip is a cover of a song by Crime. Los Huevos had a rule that if we covered a song, we had to make it ours, for better or worse. I think we did that for the better on this one. The song Maserati is great, one of Crime's best. Unfortunately they recorded it when they were in their "new wave" phase and so it never got the Crime sound that made them legendary. It originally came out on B-Square records in 1980. The flip is a song called Gangster Funk.
