Reviews:
Scratchy vocals and jangly party time tunes are Vancouver garage rawkers
Dead Ghosts’ MO and they don’t stray far with this new 3-song 7”. “That
Old Feeling” and “Blak Kat” sound like the band is recording in their
tiny jam space on Powell St again, which makes the cover of Link Wray’s
“Comanche” all the more essential to break up the trashy harshness of
the previous two tracks. This 7” was released simultaneously on three
different labels, Goodbye Boozy, Krimen, and Ghost Records and each
comes with an alternate sleeve. I think you get ‘em all with the
purchase of any one 7”… or at least I did! The Goodbye Boozy one
features recognizable art by poster phenom CM Ruiz, Ghost Records gets a
starkly drawn fallen cowboy illustration… my first thought on seeing it
was, “This should be an Indian Wars cover!” And of course, I see it’s
done by Indian Wars’ John & Dave Martin. And then there’s Krimen’s
sleeve, an uncredited photocopied cutout of a naked lady. Dead Ghosts’
debut full length is out now on Florida’s Dying! (Janelle Hollyrock)
